Oklahoma Severe Storms, Straight Line Winds, and Tornadoes, June 2023

In June of 2023, Oklahomans we impacted by severe storms which caused several tornadoes in the central parts of Oklahoma. Many of those individuals and families are still struggling to recover today from the 2023 storms that swept through in April.

If you were impacted by the June 2023 storms, you may have disaster related civil legal issues. Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma provides free civil legal services to eligible disaster survivors. More information can be given through the LASO Disaster Hotline or by applying online.

Oklahoma Severe Storms, Straight-Line Winds and Tornadoes

 

SEVERE WEATHER IMPACTS STATE

The State Emergency Operations Center activated June 18th, 2023 to monitor severe weather forecast across the state. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (ODEMHS) is in contact with emergency managers in the affected areas and coordinating with agencies and organizations including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Oklahoma Insurance Department, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, National Weather Service, Oklahoma American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief and other Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.

 

Officials in the impacted counties continue to advise residents to stay off the roads and stay home while crews work to remove debris and powerlines from roads.

 

STORM REPORTS

Widespread damage has been reported across the state as a result of Saturday’s storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and hail. Damage reported including trees and limbs down, powerlines and power poles down, roof and siding damage, structure fires, and roads closed.

 

Counties reporting damage include Bryan, Carter, Choctaw, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Ellis, Harper, Kay, Lincoln, Logan, McIntosh, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Osage, Payne, Rogers, Tulsa, Woods, and Woodward.
